This was our fourth visit to L'antico forziere --- we have stayed there on each occasion for a weekend away from our home in Rome. It gives excellent value for money, staff is unfailingly helpful and friendly and the food is special.

The family who ran the bed and breakfast were extremely pleasant and very helpful. The most outstanding feature was the restaurant. We ate there every night and each meal was innovative and delicious - the best food we've had in Italy.
We had a suite and the bedroom was upstairs while the living room and bath were downstairs. This might be a problem for anyone who has trouble climbing stairs.

Beautifully restored, family-run country hotel with views over the Umbrian hills. Very friendly and welcoming. The family went out of their way to make our stay a good one, even picking us up and dropping us off at our class at the nearby ceramics school. We were unable to try the restaurant as we there only for the Monday night when it was closed - so we'll be coming back.

Samuelo was very kind and helpful during our stay. He was anxious to help us plan our excursions and provided for our comfort. The food and the service in the restaurant was excellent.
The air conditioning in the upstairs portion of our room was inadequate and I would have enjoyed more variety and an outdoor setting for breakfast.

Incredibly beautiful countryside and equally incredible food. Traditional local ingredients with gourmet creations. Must order a desert for the presentation alone (but tastes as good as it looks.) Very convenient if you're going to Deruta shopping (as we were) but after being here, we'd make it a destination retreat for a couple of relaxing days.
One needs to know that this is very close to autostrada. An unfortunate distraction to an otherwise wonderful place. Close your windows and not too bad.

The staff (Samuele) was very friendly, very helpful and accomodating and the room was above average, but the restaurant that was truly outstanding. Beautifully (traditionally) designed, with every attention to detail (from the beribboned candlesticks on each table to the complimentary glass of Prosceco that began the meal, the food was truly amazing--the best we had on our trip. Clearly the brother Chefs have learned much during their experiences in other high end kitchens. Be sure to save room for dessert: they are bedazzling. But don't be fooled by the plating's sugar work and inventful garnishes, they taste wonderful too.

This is a jewel of a little hotel, tucked away in Umbria but close to Deruta, Spello, Assisi and all of the lovely little towns in the area. Rooms are quaint and comfortable and it was a real bargain. We will definately go back! Kay Chandler
